Designed in appreciation of natures splendour and rejuvenation cycle.

The seven stamens within each flower represent the cyclic nature of the natural world and G-d’s creation.

Inspiration taken from the Prunus Sargentii plant during Spring time.

IVORY / TAUPE

Embroidered on a sheer base fabric and lined with same.  The 22 vine leaves represent the Hebrew Alphabet with all its mystery and powers, and the 6 ears of wheat represent the days of toil.  The embroidery creates playful shadows through the sheer fabric. 

Inspiration taken from my love of Art Nouveau.

The text Shabbat is evocative of a font of that era.  The piece is hand finished with satin bias trim matching the embroidery thread.

Designed as a reminder of how very blessed we are for the creation of the Sun.

The Ears of Wheat are modelled on ancient Emmer Wheat, also known as Mother Wheat, from which all other wheats have evolved. 

The number of Ears (28 in number) are reference to The Blessing of the Sun "Birkat Hachama" which in accordance to Jewish Tradition is recited every 28 years of the Solar Cycle in thanks to our Creator for creating the Sun.

The Hebrew word Hamozti embroidered in the centre of the design is part of the Blessing of the Bread :  “Hamotzi lechem min Ha’aretz”   -   “bringest forth bread from the earth”.

PERSIMMON / MAGENTA / TURMERIC

The ten stalks represent the ten commandments. The Seed-Head per se represents the continuation of the Jewish race. The seven (large) seeds on each umbel represent the seven branched Menorah.

The undulated shapes represent the elements :

-        Top row –  Fire & Air-  Sun & Sky

-        Middle Row – Earth – the Judean Hills

-        Bottom Row – Water – the oceans

Design inspired by the humble Fennel plant.

The beauty of the variegated Canna leaf with its prominent vein structure was the inspiration behind this simplistic yet elegant design.

The seven larger leaves represent the days of the week, the largest being the Sabbath.

A rich and vibrant design with golden spheres encompassing the space is representative of all life form in the universe, and the ribbon connecting them all is to symbolise that We Are One.  The Hebrew song Shalom Alechem is recited to welcome the Angels of Peace on the Sabbath eve.

The colours of Autumn leaves, each with its own pattern and form, demonstrates that beauty is found everywhere, even in a decaying stage.  The seven leaves and curved lines symbolise the seven days of the week in which every day something special can be seen if we care to look for it.  This design is embroidered in a muted colour palette.

In homage to the great Poet Laureate Yehuda Halevi who lived in Spain (Sefarad) and yearned to journey to the Holy Land.  His poem My Heart is in the East tells the tale of his hearts’ desire. 

Through this design I convey what I imagine to be his daily anguish whilst writing his poetry, constantly visualising Jerusalem appearing in front of him like a mirage, so close but yet so far.
